| What did the play have to do with church? | We answered nothing, but that was only partly right. It also has a lot to do with church! We tend to make compartments for the various areas of our life. Jesus (the church) would and should be present in us all the time and not just in things we name as “church things.” |
| Stewardship Packets | The Annual Stewardship Drive was held during worship services on October 22, 2006. If you were not there, please pick up a stewardship packet in the Narthex. The packet contains a time and talent sheet and a financial pledge sheet. We request all confirmed members fill out a time and talent sheet and all families fill out a financial pledge sheet, and then return them to the Stewardship mailbox in the Church office. We use the information gathered from the time and talent sheets to help people get involved in the Church activities that interest them the most. The financial pledge sheets are to help you formulate your thoughts on your annual giving commitment and to help Council with budgeting; we do not enforce them. |
| December Opportunities for Sharing Time and Talent | If you’re aware of an opportunity to share time or talents, please let Joel Bacon know at 484-0131 or jbacon@keatinglaw.com, so he can include it in the December newsletter. |
| Poinsettias | It’s once again time to sign up to order a poinsettia to help decorate our church for the Christmas season. Cost is $8.50 each. Deadline for ordering your Poinsettia is Dec. 1. Sign up sheet is on the table in the narthex. |
| Cause of the Month | ARC of Lincoln/Lancaster Co. (Honey Sunday) Donations for containers of honey support the SRC which raises awareness about developmental disabilities and provides services for people with developmental disabilities. |
| Food Pantry | In November, the Lincoln Lutheran Cluster food pantry needs rice, spaghetti sauce, cereal, crackers, and canned fruit. Cash donations are used for immediate needs. To contribute cash place it in your offering plate, clearly marked “food pantry”. |
| "Logos and Latte" Book Club | If you enjoy reading (the coffee is optional), please join us! Our next meeting will be Monday, December 4th at 7 PM. The book we’ll be exploring together is Blue like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality by Donald Miller. There is a signup sheet in the narthex so Matt has an idea of how many folks to expect |
| Choir Rehearsal | “Sing to the Lord a new song!” A new year, a new song, a new opportunity to join us for choir! We’re calling all singers—you know who you are! No experience necessary—just a love for singing and music. Come join us on Wednesday nights from 7:00 until 7:45 in the sanctuary balcony, as we “make a joyful noise unto the Lord!” |
| Men's Chorus | There has been interest expressed in beginning a Men’s chorus group at ALC. If you’d be interested in singing with a group of guys, sign up on the sheet in the narthex. Rehearsal times and format haven’t been set yet—this would just be an indication of general interest. |
| Life Touch Pictures | We recently had family photographs taken for our new pictorial directory. Some complimentary 8x10 portrait were sent to the church. The pictures that are still here at church, are on the table in the narthex. |
| FaithLife Bulletin Inserts | For the last two months we’ve been including FaithLife inserts in the Sunday bulletins. We encourage you to bring them home—they’re a great connector between what we do on Sunday morning and what happens the rest of the week. Use them as a tool during the week to help guide your family’s faith discussions. |
| Advent Devotionals | If you would like to contribute to the congregationally written Advent devotional booklet, there’s a sign-up sheet in the narthex. The theme is “Emmanuel! God With Us!” You’re invited to write on how you have seen God at work in your life or in the lives of others. Devotions should be a half page or less, and can be emailed or given to Matt by November 15. |
| Pictorial Directory | All family photography sessions are complete. If you did not have your photo taken and would like to be included in the directory, you can submit a picture of your own. Also, we have a copyright release from Olan Mills if you would like to use your picture from the 2003 directory. Please submit your picture or talk to Char Rohl by November 12th. |
| Lincoln Lutheran Choir | will present its fall concert Sunday, Nov. 19th at 3:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church. The theme for this concert, “Advent: Prophecy and Annunciation” was chosen by our new interim director, James Lytton. Concert selections will include fifteenth century works such as “Annunciation Carol” as well as traditional favorites. Traditionally, audience participation is an important part of our concert, so come share in the joy singing! Reception to follow the concert. |
