In March, the Lutheran Metro Parish Food Pantry needs Hamburger Helpers, Juice, Mac & Cheese, Canned Meat [tuna, etc.], Fruit & Shampoo.

Tabitha Health Care Services

Tabitha’s home based health care services offer the care you need in the comfort and convenience of home.  Whether recovering from an injury or illness, needing some extra help around the house or facing a life-limiting illness.  Tabitha brings these specialized services to you.  Home Health, private duty, hospice and rehabilitation are offered in many southeast Nebraska counties.  A meal on Wheel is provided daily to individuals in Lincoln, Nebraska. Tabitha began introducing many of its home-based services to Lincoln nearly 40 years ago.  Tabitha offers the experience you deserve when you need health care in your home. Sanctuary Light:  The Sanctuary light for the month of March is given to the Glory of God by Janis Schleiger in memory of loved ones.

Altar Flowers:  The altar flowers this morning are given to the Glory of God by Gayla Parker in memory of her mother.

Prayer Concerns: Ernie Remmers – Tabitha.   Homebound members of American Lutheran Church – Elmer Ahlman, Mary Akin, Harvey Atkinson, Pearl Goldenstein, Myra Hawley, Wanda Kehres, Knud & Carolyn Larsen, Franklyn Manning, Leona Mason, Hazel Scott, Esther Sothan, and Helen M. Wohlers.  Those serving in the military: Nate Bray, Bart Pester, Jon Clay & Oliver Keller.

Easter Lilies:  There is a sign up sheet on the table in the Narthex for you to sign up to put an Easter lily in the Sanctuary for Easter.  Cost is $10.00 each.

Parenting Class:   This is the last call for signing up for the parenting class Pastor Henry will lead for parents with small children or anyone who might be interested. 

Mid-Week Lenten:   Lenten Supper begins at 5:30 pm with the Worship Committee serving the meal this week.  Lenten Worship begins at 7:00 pm.  The theme this week is NO Cheating.  There is No Confirmation, but the 8th grade confirmands do meet with their mentors, and all confirmands usher.

Word of Encouragement.  Monies given in Lent offerings this year will be going to Mission Share.

Praise Team If anyone is interested in being on a Praise Team, please let me know.  If there is enough interest, we should have enough people to form a new Praise Team.  Thank you.  Mavis Seelmeyer.

Instrumental Group  If anyone plays an instrument and would like to form an instrumental group, please let me know.  If there is enough interest, we would like to form a small instrumental group for the Easter Services.  Thank you.   Mavis Seelmeyer.

Parish Ed  The Parish Education Committee is planning a special Easter egg hunt between services on Palm Sunday, March 28th.  Sunday school students will gather in their classrooms before hunting eggs in the parish hall.  Everyone in the congregation is welcome to come join the hunt and stay as the Easter story is told in the opening of 12 special eggs.  Donations of plastic eggs and candy are appreciated and can be left in the baskets in the narthex.

Thrivent  If you currently are a member of Thrivent and own their product, please let us know so we can take advantage of their fraternal beneficiaries.

Habitat for Humanity Do you know anyone living in unsafe, substandard housing?  Habitat for Humanity is looking for qualified, low-income families that would be interested in partnering with Habitat to build a home for them in Lincoln-Lancaster County.  To learn more about how you can become a Habitat homeowner, attend one of the following meetings at First Mennonite Church, 7300 Holdrege:  Thursday, March 11 at 6:30 pm or Saturday, March 13 at 9:30 am.  Applications are available only by attending one of these sessions.  Call the Habitat office at 477-9184 for information on what to bring to the forum.

Concordia University Wisconsin Choir
The Kammerchor of Concordia University Wisconsin will share a concert on Sunday evening, March 14, 2010, at 7 pm, at Christ Lutheran Church, 4325 Sumner Street, Lincoln, NE.  The choir is directed by Dr. Alexa Doebele.  A free will offering will be taken.  Concordia University Wisconsin is part of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod system of colleges and universities, and is located in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Creighton University 
Reading
skills and speed reading programs for children and adults will be offered this summer in Lincoln.  They have programs for 4 year old & entering Kindergartners, entering 1st graders, 2nd graders, 3rd graders, 4th & 5th graders, 6th – 8th graders , 9th-11th graders, and 12th graders, college students, and adults.  See the information sheets on the table in the Narthex for more information.
