About Our Church

Alive in God's love, we grow as responsible members of God's church inviting others to join us in following Jesus Christ as we live His ways and share His love.

- ALC Mission Statement

American Lutheran is a congregation of the Nebraska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  Organized in 1932, the congregation has worshipped in and served from this location at 4200 Vine Street since 1962.  The present worship facility was completed in 1998.

Worship is key at American Lutheran.  Two worship services (8:15 am traditional worship and 10:30 am praise worship) are held each Sunday.  We also have special services during Lent, at Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Sunday School classes for all ages are held at 9:10 am each Sunday morning, September through May.  Special programs and activities are held during the year including Vacation Bible School and Church Camp in the summer.  Confirmation instruction for 7th and 8th graders is held during the school year.  Women are invited to participate in Women of the ELCA activities.  There is a monthly Men's Breakfast and a Golden Age Fellowship group.  Bible studies are held throughout the year.

American Lutheran works with other Lutheran congregations in supporting the Lutheran Food Pantry and Lutheran World Relief.  Each year quilters sew for local and church-wide projects and facilities.

The church opens its doors to provide an election polling place for general and special elections.

Whether in worship, study, or service, God is working in and through American Lutheran church.  You are cordially invited to be part of our fellowship!
